US Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-orders Delayed Due to New Tariffs by President Trump

Nintendo announced the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 gaming console on Wednesday of this week. Basic information regarding the device was made available by the company. According to reports, the new device has superior graphics and audio compared to Switch 1, and a chat button that permits players to communicate with each other while playing. The device was officially confirmed to be released on June 5th, while pre-orders were said to start on April 9th.

Well, US customers may have to wait a bit longer for the pre-orders to start. Nintendo's postponement of pre-orders in the US is due to the introduction of new global tariffs by US President Donald Trump. Japan, where the gaming company is based, was hit with a 24% tariff by the US President on the same day that Nintendo announced the release date for Switch 2.

As per the official statement by Nintendo, pre-orders for the Switch 2 in the US will not start from April 9th in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions. The company will update the pre-order date in the US at a later date, though it has clarified that the launch date (June 5) remains unchanged.

Let's see if the company bears the cost of the new tariffs or passes it onto the US consumers. Don't forget to keep up with The Tech Outlook for more updates.
