Apple customers are reportedly panicking and purchasing iPhones, Due to impending tariffs

Some customers are making purchases due to the fear of iPhone prices going up due to President Donald Trump's new tariffs.

According to Bloomberg, Apple store employees saw a rise in foot traffic over the weekend as a result of growing concerns that iPhone prices could rise steeply after new tariffs are imposed. The majority of Apple's revenue comes from iPhones, which are produced in China, a country currently facing tariffs of up to 54%.

Bloomberg was informed by one employee that the surge had the feel of the holiday shopping season. Although customers have asked about potential price hikes, the company has not given store employees any direction on how to respond to those inquiries.

Apple's response to a comment request was delayed.

Late last week, the company's valuation dropped by more than half a trillion dollars, marking its worst performance in that time period in more than twenty decades.

The iPhone maker's short-term sales could be boosted by panic buying, but the bigger impact of tariffs won't be felt until the following quarter.

Apple is stockpiling inventory to prepare for tariffs and moving production to India, where tax rates are lower, according to Bloomberg. The Times of India reports that Apple transported five plane loads of iPhones from India and China to the US in the last week of March as part of this effort to maintain stable pricing.

Vietnam, Malaysia, and Ireland are among the other countries where Apple manufactures some of its products.
