Google Photos might soon allow you to select the motion tracking focus (APK breakdown)

Last year, Google introduced a number of new video editing features to the Google Photos app, such as a few AI-powered video presets that let users edit films, manage playback speed, cut videos, and add interesting effects with a few touches. One of these presets automatically applies a dynamic motion-tracking effect, making it very simple to keep the main subject in the center of the frame. It can be troublesome in films with numerous subjects in the frame, though, because the Track preset does not currently let users select the primary subject. Google may soon make a modification to solve this problem.

In order to make it easier for new users to comprehend what the video presets do, Google said earlier this year that it will be replacing the still icons with little movies. It turns out that the corporation has more plans to develop the functionality than just this. We've noticed another impending update for the Track preset in the most recent version of Google Photos (7.24.0.744869131), which will let users select the subject to which they wish to apply the motion-tracking effect.

After processing the video, the Track preset will display a new "Track different subject" button once it goes live. By drawing a circle around the button, users can manually select the subject they want to concentrate on. Google Photos will reprocess the video and apply the motion-tracking effect to the new subject once the user has chosen a different one.
